What should I do? Thoughts?
Reposting here as not sure where it goes and didn't get much of a response. lol Hoping that is ok.
I am currently scheduled for a 6 month mammo January 22nd and then a f/u appointment aftwards with my MO. This is 6 months out from dx. At that time...they found two spots on the mammo on my left breast---neither were large enough to be felt. One was "concerning" more than the other. So they biopsied the one spot the same time they biopsied the one on the right. Which is what turned out to be cancer. The left side came back as a fibroadenoma. I don't remember anyone saying much about this 2nd lump....just that it was "not as concerning" at the ones they wanted to biopsy.
So fast forward to today...I can feel a lump in the same general area that the biopsy was completed. Both spots where close, but neither where large enough to actually be felt.
So do I call and get in sooner? Or just wait until I am scheduled in January? If I go in, it means an 8 hour drive one way...spend the night with family ect. It's more than just making an appointment.
I know fibroadenoma's can grow...but not how fast. Are they fast growing? It was July 18th that I had the original mammo, so we are looking at 4 months out. Seems to be the size of a pea/jelly bean maybe?
Hmmmm.....thoughts?

greeneyes- can your dr order a mammo or mri closer to where you live? He will still get the reports from radiology..

Hi Lula, I thought about that. The thing is Is I had a 3d before which was the only reason they found the cancer. I'm in Montana, they just got a 3d last month. I was wondering if the doctor would have much expirence reading the images with it being so new. I guess it boils down to I am not real confident in the care at the local hospital.

Hi Greeneyes, maybe you can private message Djmammo. (He’s the retired radiologist ) Let him know the closer hospital just got their 3D machine and your doubts about them reading the results. He might be able to give you some more specifics on if it’s easier or harder for them to see anything. Maybe he could also tell you if they could send the imaging to your regular radiologist to read too. Good luck.

greeneyes-pretty sure the radiologists have to go thru training specific to 3D mMmography before they can read it without having potential for liability/malpractice. Those images can also be put on a DVD that you can request and take/send to another radiologist

Thanks ladies, I made some phone calls today. Waiting for a call back though. I think I just want to pretend nothing is there. Sigh.....
