Male Breast Cancer Awareness

Hello,

I am writing to you to request a change. I am asking for you to consider that when talking about breast cancer awareness, you not only speak of women, but also of men. While I understand that statistically, breast cancer is considered a woman's disease, men also get breast cancer.

My husband, my soulmate, passed away from breast cancer. He was diagnosed by chance at stage four and he bravely fought for almost six years.

Being a man in a "woman's disease" is hard. I appreciate Breast Cancer Awareness month, however, I believe that the majority of women are already aware, while men are not. It is time for a change. It is time to raise awareness for the people that truly don't know - men. Men get breast cancer too.

So that is my request. When you start campaigning for breast cancer awareness, please consider wearing pink AND blue because men get it too! If we can reach just one man and save his life, we will have truly made a difference.

Thank you for your consideration. Together, we can be the change and raise awareness for Male Breast Cancer.

dear Denise —i am so sorry for the loss of your soulmate...words arent enough. Indeed we have to increase awareness of male breast cancer. You shoudl consider messaging member name traveltext —he is very active on these boards and part of his mission is to increase awareness of male breast cancer.

Denise, you take the words right out of my mouth. I really am sorry that you lost your soul mate to this terrible disease; one that as you rightly say, is not confined to women. I, too, wish the pink charities would add some blue to their pinkwashed campaigns so that public awareness levels that men get bc too is raised from the abysmal 30%. Later diagnosis of us guys is leading to a poorer prognosis, and so we really are dying for a change to the way this disease is presented in the media. I certainly wish you well in your endeavours.
