Hi!

Was not able still to find better option for large tumours of TNBC: start neoadjuvant chemo (before surgery) or start from surgery?

My story:

Tumour 48x40mm in the right breast.

Histology revealed: invasive non-specific cancer G3. ER 0%, PR 0%, no HER2, "negative overexpression", Ki67-65%

Thank you!

This is a discussion to have with your doctor. I did chemo before surgery

    Hi Kassandra

I am stage 1a and had surgery before chemo - a lumpectomy - my tumour size was 1.5cm and no node involvement. Based on what I have now read and learnt since my op, I wish I had had the opportunity to consider in more detail and I feel that I may have lost opportunity to find out how my lump would have reacted to chemo. I may be at a significant disadvantage, if I draw the short straw and it returns, as chemo is the only current treatment for triple negative. I won’t know if it worked for me. However the flip side of this is that psychologically I feel better - I’mpleased that I am rid of the tumour now. You need to discuss the pros and cons with your surgeon and Onc.

    Hi there

My tumour was 4 cm and I had chemo first. I was fortunate enough to achieve a pcr and then go on to lumpectomy ( I had probably been looking at mastectomy had it not shrunk). As others have said please discuss with your team because everybody has a different story and set of circumstances.

    Good luck

    Chris
