I had a double mastectomy four months ago . I have an appointment December 19 to see the oncologist . last week I began having pain under my arm on the left side . The scar on the right side is flat , the scar on the left side appears to be growing a thick layer of fat underneath it . I have the left breast removed even though they said it did not have cancer . In the pathology they found lobular in situ and another ductal in situ . The invasive ductal was on the right side and 21 of the lymph nodes on the right side were removed . I am probably over thinking. The right lymph node was over 3 cm and filled with cancer cells poorly differentiated . There were also lymph nodes larger than 2.4 cm on the right but they did not have cancer cells according to the pathology report . I just need advice . I'm a registered nurse but this is my first cancer experience besides being a hospice nurse for eight years .

this could be a couple of things a seroma or some type of fluid build up or swelling. You should address with your plastic or breast surgeon depending on if you did reconstruction. I know we rush to the thoughts of additional cancer but try not to worry too much.

debbie - I agree - funny weird but probably not amusing. Until I saw the original date, I was going to tell you it might be better to consolidate your questions in one thread.
