12 years out - thriving not just surviving

Hello Everyone - I don't come here very often. However I wanted to share that I am 12 years out and NED. Diagnosed in 7/05, stage 1, no nodes. Chemo and radiation and so far so good. Life does continue after this disease. I just saw my 27 year old daughter married. I myself have been married to the love of my life going on 7 years. We have recently relocated and I have a new job. I don't think about it too much anymore, except every year when I have to go for the mammo. Thriving not just surviving. Hope this helps or inspires even one person :-)

Gorilla, thank you so much for stopping in and sharing your inspiring story! We know it will surely encourage others to stay positive through treatment and know there's a fulfilling, happy life on the other side of treatment.

Congrats on your 12 years! So amazing.

I am where you were 12 years ago. Two kids and just diagnosed and starting chemo which will be followed by surgery and rads. I am most probably stage 1 as well. So inspiring. Right now I feel sad and stressed. I am divorced, no family in the country, two kids and I was laid off from my job. I was having interviews but I had to turn them down because I am starting chemo. Life feels very hard though I have good friends who love me.

Hi Way! I'm also single with a 15 year old daughter. I will start my chemo on 1/3/2018. I already had a bilateral mastectomy without reconstruction (I'm healing nicely. There were no complications). We are all in this together.

I have been gaining knowledge and strength as a lurker on this site for a while. I know the job situation must make all of this even harder but thank God for friends who love us. I don't know where I would be without mine.

Thank you so much for your post!!!! I don't come on here as often as I did in the beginning. But, when I get down & fears of recurrence creep in. I do stop by here to read stories just like yours. I was stage 3. I had PcR after chemo. My drs tell me my future is bright. I am coming up on 2 years since diagnosis. I hope I can be back here at 12 years too.

    Ladies,

I am almost two years out and my diagnosis was tough. I have a middle-school daughter and like many of you it's been a rough road. But so far, so good. I am NED. One day at a time. I wish you all a restful, creative and stress-less holiday. Love out.
