Taxol and Itchy Skin Rash

Towards the end if my first week of Taxol I began experiencing an itchy rash from my neck down go my knees. When I went in for my second infusion I was given a new steroid instead of Decadron (can't remember the name) along with a Decodron script to take twice a day for Days 0, 2 and 3. I was also prescribed Benadryl at night and Zantac during the day. I have been told if the condition persists the next step would be to take the generic Taxol because it has a different binding agent. It looks like that might be the patch I have to take because the rash and Itching are returning. I'm concerned about the new chemo because my oncologist says that she has never prescribed it because she prefers the brand. Has anyone else experienced this issue and what was the path to resolution? I'm starting my Google search now but thought it would be worth it to get some real life advice.

Hi! My rash is on my face. It gets a bright, red, itchy rash then scales. I was told Benedryl as well. It doesn’t help tho. Hang in there. Best of luck to you.

I have a treatment plan that now works. In addition to the standard steroid that I receive as a premed, they have added solumederol to my IV. For 2 days after chemo and the day before chemo I take steroids. I also take zantac daily because it has a histamine blocker. I can take benadryl for itching but haven't needed it since they started me on this regimine. I hope you get relief soon.

i had a terrible rash the whole 12 weeks i was on Taxol. Benadryl daily helped as well as a heartburn med (omeprazole) . Also took claritin daily. And that stopped the itch. The rash was there though.
