Hi All - quick question!

I have my BMX with immediate reconstruction Next Thursday the 30th. My daughter has an IL State Swim banquet that Monday the 4th. For all of you who have gone through a similar surgery was there any way you could have attended a banquet 4 days later? My husband plans to go with her but I hate that I may be missing this.

Thanks!

you may or may not feel up to it. I wouldn’t go if it was me. I’d be worried about being around so many potentially sick people and getting sick.

    Congratulations to your DD!!!

If you feel up to going just remember to protect your chest when around the crowds - follow behind your spouse, keep your arms up. Watch out for huggers

Everyone reacts differently to reconstruction so only you will know if you feel like being out. At the best you may be feeling quite a bit of fatigue. At the worst you may still be taking pain meds. You will definitely still have those pesky drains to try to hide under your clothes.

Hope your surgery goes well. Let the healing begin.

I attended a choral concert that my youngest daughter was in 4 days after my surgery. It kind of sucked having to get "presentable" and I was an emotional mess, but I didn't feel that it was horribly difficult physically. I had a 30 minute ride there and back (with a pillow!) and the concert was probably 2 hours.

It was important to me to attend. Everyone (including my daughter) would have understood if I hadn't, but there were some other things along the way that I had missed.

I had surgery on Tuesday, and went to church and lunch on Sunday. Wore me out emotionally and physically.
