MRI results today
Ohhhh the waiting!
I'm not sure what they will be telling me today, but the rest of my pathology report came in since my first meeting with surgeon. ER+PR+ HER2-, also saw its not just IDC, but DCIS and sclerosing adenosis.
I'm ready for a plan!!

Waiting is the worst part! That was when I learned the very appropriate word "scanxiety". I also felt much better having a plan. Hope you get your plan soon.

ScaredMommy, Waiting to fully understand the details of your bc and then formulate a plan is difficult! What I can tell you, is that the DCIS cells will not change your treatment plan, other than to increase the amount of tissue taken, as anything that is appropriate treatment for IDC will take care of the DCIS. The mri will give you good intell about anything else that hadn't yet been found/identified, so hang in there! Have you picked your team yet? That is the other important part of making your treatment plan (pathology and imaging specifics + good team). Hoping you get to start moving forward soon!

Hi, ScaredMommy -
This part is rough. I know. But from your pathology you know what kind of cancer you're working with. It CAN and WILL be treated. You're just in the throes of the scary beginning part. The MRI will help them get a better idea of the size/shape of your tumor. Are you getting any other imaging/testing like a PET scan or genetic testing?
Are you comfortable with your surgeon and oncologist? If not I would suggest you take the time to get second opinions. You'll be working with them for a while and putting a lot into their hands so it's worth it to assemble a team you trust.
Once you figure out if you'll be doing surgery or chemo first you'll find a ton of info and support on these boards - like what questions to ask the surgeon and oncologist, what to expect from chemo, etc.
GOOD LUCK!! We have your back :-)

First words I heard "All good news". I never thought I'd hear good news again. Clinical staging is Stage II. I meet with radiation oncologist Dec 5 and surgery scheduled for Jan 2.
CLINICAL HISTORY: Biopsy-proven left breast carcinoma
COMPARISON: Sonogram and mammogram dated 11/2/2017
FINDINGS:
Right Breast: There is mild benign background breast parenchymal
enhancement. There are no areas of suspicious enhancement or
lymphadenopathy.
Left Breast: There is mild benign background breast parenchymal
enhancement. There is a 2 x 1.5 x 2.5 cm irregular only marginated
spiculated avidly enhancing mass in the 12:00 axis of the left breast
likely 3.5 cm in the nipple with associated postbiopsy changes. This
corresponds to the biopsy-proven breast carcinoma seen on recent
sonogram and mammogram no suspicious adenopathy is seen. No chest wall
or nipple invasion is noted. No multifocal disease is noted. Diffusion
images are relatively unremarkable. -
Great news to hear there is not chest wall or nipple involvement.
Really soon you'll be doing to work of getting rid of the cancer. I think you'll really feel better once you are on the road.
Happy Thanksgiving!

So great you finally have results, know what you are dealing with, and appointments scheduled. ER and PR + is generally a good thing, and having DCIS along with IDC is fairly common. Hope you can breathe now and enjoy some of the long weekend. Fingers crossed all goes well from here.

thank you all so much!! I hope you all had a love filled holiday x
