Will I need chemo if nodes from auxiliary surgery are positive?

I am 2 wks post MX with 1 sentinel node positive. I go for auxiliary node removal on Tues. Is chemo in my future?

    Hi Becky!

    Whether or not your doctors will recommend chemo depends on a number of factors. Yes, nodal involvement may be part of the chemo equation, but one compromised node does not automatically guarantee you chemo. It may depend on whether other nodes test positive for cancer, and how many they are.

    I see that you have been diagnosed with ILC. You may want to ask about chemo for ILC on one of the ILC boards. I've read some posts from ILC patients which state that chemo is less effective for ILC, and that hormonal therapy is a better treatment for that kind of cancer. But, there are also ILC patients here who have been effectively treated with chemo.
