Scared

hi. Well it’s official my mets got worse. It progressed more in the bones and 2 nodes in the lungs. I have been having trouble wait my breathing the doctor says it’s from the lungs. I was on letrozole and xegieva shots for 2 years. Now it stopped working why? I don’t know. I’m starting a new treatment now. Ibrance 100 mg and falsodex shots. Waiting for approval from insurance co. Hopefully I hear something by Monday. Is anybody on this treatment? How is it going? I’m scared to start this because I don’t know how I will be on these meds. They sound really strong. I don’t know what to think. I’m 59 years old and widowed but I’m not ready to go yet. I hope this helps. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. I’m trying to live my life but it’s hard when you don’t feel good most of the time. I want to do something before it’s too late.

    Hi Tychad,

We're so sorry to hear of your progression -- it's common that after a while a certain medication that had once worked for your mets starts not working quite as well. Many of our members here have experienced the same and are now on Ibrance as well -- in fact, we have a very active Ibrance thread here, where you can stop by, introduce yourself, and get some answers and experience from others who are undergoing this treatment.

We know you'll find great support here! We hope this helps you feel a little less scared, and better about the treatment options ahead.

Hi Tychad, progression sucks. I found my first progression really hard. I thought I was going to live forever. It's not fair when the cancer slaps you in the face and says nuh uh. But this is how MBC works. You take a drug until it stops working and move on to another.

There's a thread just for you. It's the Faslodex/Ibrance thread. On the Faslodex Girls 2014 thread you can find all the tips on how to get that medication without pain. The Fas/Ibrance thread may not have that but does have other ladies taking it.

I took the Faslodex for three years and the combo for one year. The side-effects from Fas aren't much different than the ones you are experiencing now. The Ibrance side-effects are different. Low blood counts -- some ladies get fatigue though I never did.

    Hi Tychad,

Hopefully you have found the Faslodex/Ibrance thread. I have been on both although not in combination. The Faslodex was very easy for me as was the Ibrance with Femara. I progressed on both though and yes, progression sucks. I know many ladies have been on Faslodex for a long time and I hope the combo works well for you for a long time too.
