Prominent Vein in Breast

Hi ladies!

My siggy tells my story so I won't type all the details in the post.

I've noticed a, what seems to be new, vein in my healthy breast since my reconstruction in September but thought nothing of it until last night. Someone from another BC support site posted an article about warning signs of BC that sometimes go unnoticed. One of those warning signs mentioned was visible, dilated veins in the breast. Apparently, those veins can sometimes be an indicator of BC as a tumor needs an increased blood supply. Can anyone speak from experience about the validity this?

I'm completely freaking out right now! I've called my regular doctor who said they can examine me today or tomorrow. I've also left a message with my breast surgeon's nurse (although, I'll admit she's not always prompt about returning phone calls). Should I just go to my regular doctor and ask if they'll send me for a mammo or ultrasound?

TIA for any input!!!

buffy, I don't have any experience with prominent veins, but I just wanted to say I am so sorry that you're going through this scare right now. Continue to call whatever providers you can reach so that you can be seen today. No sense having to wait until next week. I'm sending you positive thoughts for clearly b9 results!

Thanks MTwoman! I'm *still* waiting for the BS's nurse to call me back. Ugh!!!

As I've been waiting, I did a Google search to find out if it could be caused by the weight of the implant since I was augmented to a larger size at exchange. Apparently, that's a common occurrence. I'd still like piece of mind. Guess I'll be visiting my PCP tomorrow.

Did you ever have a port or other subclavian line on the left side for any period of time? Any history of clots?
