Exhaustion

I am not really sure if I am posting this in the right place, but I am wondering if any other BC Survivors struggle with exhaustion 41/2 months after treatment (surgery+ radiation, no anti-hormonals). I am really, really, really tired at the end of the day/week. I went back to work full time six weeks after treatment. I was severely anemic, but my iron numbers are finally rebounding. I have always loved my job passionately but currently I am wondering if it is time to retire and do something less active. Do any of you have experience with this? All of my follow up scans were clean in October...

Hi, I had fatigue issues before my dx, but now that I am a few months out it is even worse. Turns out I am having issues with my thyroid. Have you had it checked out? Specifically your PTH, calcuim and Vit D levels? Do you have any issues with headaches, stiffness/sore joints, depression/anxity nausea? Can all be signs of a thyroid issue or form treatments. I did not have radiation, however those that have had it have been known to develope thyroid issues as well.

    GreenEyes,

I do have issues with headaches and muscle aches! I just figured this was related to being so fatigued! I am so tired at the end of my work day that a couple of days ago coming home from work I literally turned into a medium thinking I was in the correct place to make the turn. My car is now in the shop to be repaired. Sometimes I feel like I could fall asleep at the wheel. It really worries me....

I have been taking thyroid medication for several years before my breast cancer diagnosis (Hashimotos). Maybe I need to ask the doctor to recheck my levels now that I have completed radiation.

You never know, it could be stress or just delayed recovery from surgery. Since you have had thyroid issues, I would for sure ask your doctor to check you out. Google hyperparathyroid and look at the symtoms ect. it is a common and simple issue to fix...but most doctors do not understand the issue to treat it. This is what I am being treated for, though there are lots of thyroid issues. Hope you start feeling better quick!
