Considering removing implants and going flat
I had BC 7 years ago. Had BMX, followed by TEs, then implants. TEs were implanted at the time of the BMX, but then I needed radiation (not expected), so my reconstruction was irradiated. Well, my prophylactic side looks great. My cancer side is a mess. I have capsular contraction, so I have a contour that shows my breast creeping ever closer to my neck. And as much fat pushing out the sides. (yes I put on weight in the past 7 years). I'm definitely not up for any more advanced surgery. Considering going flat, and getting a tattoo of some sort, just for my own sake, to cover the scars. Then using prostethics, at least at work, especially since I am carrying ALL of my excess weight in my belly. Anybody go through this? What did you decide? Were you happy with your decision? Thanks in advance.

Hi Lisa. I know you don't want another surgery, just want to be done with the whole mess. Since you would have to have another surgery anyway to take out the implant, I wonder if you would consider having an implant placed Over your Pectoral instead of what sounds like your current uncomfortable Subpectoral method. The reason I bring this up is that I think you did want to be reconstructed initally, but just had these setbacks from the Radiation damage. I had severe Radiation Fibrosis and had a TE subpectorally initially. I just absolutely hated how it felt. Long story short, I had that TE removed, then had a new one put over my Pectoral Muscle, which was changed last spring to an Anatomical Silicone Implant.
I started a thread about this kind of Reconstruction. There are several women on it that changed from Subpectoral to Prepectoral Implant Reconstruction (Over the Pectoral). I just want you to know this option exists. No matter what you decide, I wish you great improvement in your comfort. Good Luck.
