I had a lumpectomy 4 years ago - now having an MRI biopsy on a new lump. I'm under control about it, bit I do like to be aware of possibilities - especially since things can start moving very quickly. IF this spot winds up being cancer, is it an automatic mastectomy this time, or would they just do a lumpectomy again

Typically it means mastectomy because they cannot do radiation again. If you opted out of radiation last time, then lumpectomy plus radiation might be an option

I'm sorry - thank you for checking on me KBeee. It was "fibrocystic tissue, scar tissue, and fat necrosis" - benign. I'm still coming down from the stress of it all. In these last four years I've had at least two other ultrasound guided biopsies, now two MRI guided biopsies, and one "watch" area. But I have to say that this one was the scariest. THEY were concerned. Not sure I can handle going through this again - not that we have a choice though.
