I would have never opted for reconstruction IF I would have known the pain and "discomfort"[ as the dr and nurse call it] would continue for this long! its been 5 1/2 months since implanting these "expanders", I have 2 1/2 weeks to go every day and night I pray for relief!

unless you are young and or need breasts to reassure yourself you continue to be "you" I would say in no equivocal term NO DO NOT DO THIS!

talk to a woman that has/had them {expanders} first.please do this I wish I had.

Everyone is different. I've had the complete opposite experience. The first week after the initial surgery was the worst part, but manageable. In my experience the drains were the most annoying part of the process. I had expanders for over 5 months. Had a double nipple sparing mastectomy. Had my exchange recently and have had to force myself not to overdo it afterwards because I feel great. I dont regret the decision to have reconstuction at all. My mother had reconstruction and her experience was similar to mine.

Everyone is, indeed, different. I had one step implants, no TE's. I had a fairly easy time, great results and no additional surgeries (except to remove one nipple after path report showed cancer cells too close to that area.) . However others have had a more difficult time. It is impossible to predict ahead of time where onewill fall on the comfort/discomfort spectrum.
