Tnbc has now changed to 90% ER +

I had TNBC in 2015 and now 2 years later a local regional recurrence that is still grade 3 but 90% ER+. Anyone else on here with the same thing

Is it at the exact spot of the previous tumour? Is it possible that it's a new primary?

In any event ER+ is better than ER- as you have more treatment options

If ER is less than 5% (some places use to use 10%), it is considered ER negative. Tumors are not homogeneous. You may have had a couple "less aggressive ER+ Cells in there, nog killed off by chemo (chemo is less effective on less aggressive cells). Since you were not on hormonal therapy, they were allowed to grow after chemo finished. That's just one theory on how that may have happened.

I also had a change in hormonal status with my recurrence.

My surgeon is going to biopsy a mass that they saw on my mammogram. She said it could even come back TN and I could have two different cancers. I'm hoping it will come back not cancer at all and then we can proceed with just removing some lymph nodes and not have to have a mastectomy. It makes me think they should just give TNs the hormone therapy anyway. I tried to push to have my ovaries out at that time cause my gram died from ovarian cancer but since I was BRCA - they said no. Makes me kinda mad.

Its very close to the same spot. MO thought it was refractory micro mets but the surgeon thinks it could be two separate cancers. The MO was glad that it has a hormone receptor now. I was set tohave carboplatin and taxatere until he got the results and then he said do xeloda instead. The SEs of the xeloda are so bad I had to stop it two days early this time. He says he will lower the dose some. I'm going to talk to him about a different chemo. I don't think I can do this for six months. You don't realize how much you use your hands and feet until they are a mess
