Best way to pass the time?
I had a 3D mammogram this morning followed by a breast MRI with and without contrast.
Background: I'm 30 years old, married for 11 years with 3 kids. My mom was dx with ovarian at 48 and it is not considered chronic cancer. 6 reoccurrences in 5 years. She is positive for the BRCA2 mutation and passed it on to me. I had a salpingectomy in February and will be under high screening for ovarian until I'm 35 when they take my ovaries. I put the breast health on hold so I could adjust and because of my age. My plan is to have a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy so I knew i needed A baseline MRI and mammogram. About 3 to 4 weeks ago I began to have some scary symptoms so I went in to see my PA from the cancer center and she thought the changes were hormonal but decided to go ahead and be safe and get everything scheduled. My period came and went and the symptoms are still very present so it leads me to think that it's not hormonal but today I had the 3-D mammogram and a breast MRI and now I have to wait for results.
It is just a surreal place to be sitting at my 10-year-old daughter soccer practice at 30 years old with my other two kids sitting beside me and worrying about results from an MRI and a mammogram. I'm just not sure how to keep my mind off of it. What have you found that helps pass the time quickly?

Probably not helpful, but denial was how I coped. Basically I just told myself that until I know something is wrong for sure, nothing is wrong. Once I knew it was cancer, I prepared. Prepared my family, prepared for surgery, lots of doctors appointments. I have a one year old and two teens who keep me busy. Best of luck to you,Hope your results are clear.

ba30, I have a thread focused almost entirely on how to deal with anxiety while you wait. Instead of repeating it all, I'll just give the link here: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/83/topics/855477?page=4#idx_111
Try your best to breathe and take one step at a time. Get a copy of the imaging report, paying close attention to the impression and recommendation sections and the BIRADS score. Post any confusing language here and we'll help you better understand. MRI do tend to lead to more biopsies as they are very sensitive ("see" lots of things) but not as specific (what it "sees" is not just cancer), so a biopsy is needed to definitively rule in/out bc.
Good luck for b9 findings!
