Well I must say I am impressed with my N.P. Saw him today for the dimple that has shown up on my left breast, with the nipple turning weird. Inflamed lymph nodes and hot skin. He Let me know 1. I am not crazy, there really is a dimple. (Yay me for not hallucinating) and 2. Sent my referral to the breast clinic this afternoon and low and behold they called at 6 pm....of course I ended up missing the call 😞 and have to call back in the am after my blood work he requested get done but WOW that was quick. I truly felt listened to that something is not right. He has given me a bit of hope that this may not be long and drawn out process again. Also god bless gave me a copy of my last mammo results that once I read made me feel a thousand times better about the asymmetry in the right breast. The section was all of 4mm in the areola anterior 3rd depth or something like that. So thank god that doesnt sound serious at all.

Lets hope the left breast dimpling is for a stupid reason. He did say it could possibly be weight loss...I dont think so because I possibly may have lost 10lbs total since March so not holding my breath on that. But at least he tried. And Im sure they only called me so quick because I told him this was stressful. Last time it took 3 days before they called.

Also gave me crap for not having had a pap for the past 4 or 5 years (ooops) and made me book one.

Feels good to have a healthcare provider who genuinly cares 😀

I prefer NPs to MDs. A MD missed my cyst and offered no preventative measures. 10 minutes in and out "watch it" approach. My NP spent 45 minutes talking to me about everything. Calculating risk, family history, genetic testing, pros and cons of Tamoxifen and prophylactic mastectomy.

My PA was fantastic! Got me in for what was needed the same day I saw her for my DX. Had path. report next morning. Love my other PAs (Dermatology, Orthopedic) also. She'd been my PC for 20+ yrs but retired so got a new PA but think I'm going to like her very much - but can never fill the shoes of 'old one'.

The only times I've seen MDs for 20+ yrs have been when 'Specialist' were needed. Couldn't ask for better care than I've gotten with my Detm and Ortho PA either.

see this is def something I have heard alot of. Maybe MDs need to stop and listen to hear what a lot (not saying all) of patients have to say about NPs. Its the time taken to explain, and the caring that is felt. I do not even bother booking appts with my primary MD because it takes Months (literally she is booking into the new year) by then god knows how quickly things could happen. As my NP said "it may not be sinister" and he is absolutely right. It may. But I told him point blank I do not care if its sinister. Because if it is at least I know what I am up against and what to do about it things will work out. Its the not knowing that sucks.

Kind of funny moment. I tell him I have gotten a sudden onset egg allergy the past year that is progressively getting worse. And asked if this could be causing my breast issues ( yes I am looking for any reason) he looked at me funny, says "thats weird" (about the eggs) but not likely what is causing the dimple etc. So nonchalant haha. (Recommended after this roller coaster we figure it out)

I am all about NPs.  Course I'm an RN, so that may make me prone to bias.  NPs are nurses first and foremost, and they are more likely to have a holistic view of their clients.  I always ask for an NP over an MD, and in my job I'm always thrilled when my patients are on the NP team versus the resident's team.  I have had a couple of experiences with NPs that were less than stellar, but for the most part, they totally rock.

Wow he really got the ball rolling. My mammo and U/S are scheduled for tomorrow morning. Last time it took 2 weeks to get in.

He must have pushed a little to get this so quick. God bless him. Im sure this dimple will end up being something silly and I worried for nothing. But super happy they are taking it seriously and quickly.

Hey Manda, I just stumbled across this thread and it sounded familiar. Had to check through your other posts to figure out that you have a couple of posts going. It can be better for everyone if you update the older thread as anyone following that one (and responding) won't get this info. Also, anyone in the future who is reading that thread, won't get this info and it is hard to remember to update all of your threads when you get answers to your questions. Just fyi.

Glad you had a good experience with the NP and good luck for b9 findings.

dumpling is a sign that something in the breast is not right. My case, a 1 inch cancerous tumor. Left unattended it would have grown to cause a lot more problems.

The ob/gyn is not versed in this. Get a mammo..it could save you a lot of pain and anquish, but don't ignore it

It has been a while since I updated. Had my mammo in Oct. My dr says its fibro nodular. So I asked if that means cysts. She said no nodular....wtf. She also said no calcifications so we will scan again next October. The dimples are still there. Getting a bit more pronounced debating if I just wait till Oct 2018 to check them again or if I push. The left side constantly aches like a bruise but no bruising there and its not my normal hormonal aches which for me tend to happen on the inner portions not the outer. I guess I will wait and see if anything else changes. I've got to go see her for other reasons soon so will mention what's up.

If I were in your place I would definitely ask for clarification, that and stress to her you’re seeing changes. I might also seek a second opinion if you’re still not getting clear answers. I say this not because I think you have anything wrong, only because I like to err on the side of caution and life for me is miserable when I’m left in limbo by my unanswered questions. Keep us posted please

I'm thinking I am just being paranoid. I'm sure my dr takes my health seriously and honestly not sure how to get a second opinion up here in the north. We are limited on drs. Takes months just to get in for an appt. And it took us over a year just to get a regular gp. (We were lucky some people in town still don't have one). Thankfully we have a new granddaughter so my mind isn't totally preoccupied with worry.

I have been brushing everything off as most likely menopausal symptoms....sounds pretty accurate but there is always that little bit of doubt. I think I can ask my dr to biopsy anyways then I know for certain it's nothing to worry about. I will let you know how it goes 😊 In the meantime I think I will just enjoy baby snuggles!

I haven't been here for awhile. Its been a tumultous year, Well I am still in a watch and wait. The indent on my left breast has grown about 3x the size it was and new smaller indent is forming beside it. Imaging isn't picking anything up, but still no explanation as to what is causing it. Mammo report says heterogenously dense and does note things can be missed. Ultrasound report shows cysts and "islands of very fibrous tissue". Has me confused is it heterogenously dense or scattered...I go for 3 month follow up this week. My husband is coming with me this time. We most certainly want an mri or at the very least an explanation as to why this indent is growing. My last appointment in March the NP felt a new lump on my rib I hadn't known was there and boy after she pushed that lump, it buuurned for 2 days. The skin was 🔥 and sore. Had an ultrasound after that (about the only time the gel felt nice) but no major changes noted. I'm pretty sure it had been a cyst the maybe ruptured. The pain I was getting has improved. Now only 3 specific spots hurt constantly And I've gotten used to it more of a constant reminder than anything. Hoping I can find a logical explanation for this.
