Mysterious blue/purple bruise or mark
Hello,
The night before I noticed a mysterious blue/purple mark (or bruise?) on my left breast. It is very small, like the size of a pencil eraser. Today it seems maybe a little lighter, perhaps more pink than yesterday? It is so hard to tell. That is the only symptom but I am really freaked out.
I plan on calling the doctor tommorow, but I don't know when I will be able to get there as this is a very chaotic week.
Additonal info: I am 28, have a weight issue, pcos, IBS, other than that very healthy.
No immediate family has had breast cancer. Only my grandmother's sister which is kind of extended in my opinion.
Have any of you had a mysterious mark that is small, and pink/purple? I am just extremely worried and need to know what is going on.
Thank you kindly.

Do you have a dog who likes to jump up on you? Have you been holding/carrying a child who was wearing heavy shoes? In my experience these are the two most common reasons for a mysterious bruise on the breast caused by minor trauma. You should still have it evaluated by your health care professional.

Hello, I have made an appointment for tomorrow thank goodness. The only other difference I noticed today was that it is darker beneath that breast (underneath) than the other.
I do not have any children or dogs. Nothing makes sense at all.
I am completely freaked out. I hope that when I go tommorow the docter can tell me something that does make sense. Anything. Hormone changes. A blood blister. Something.

I'm very similar to you. Bruise that is not going away pencil eraser size, overweight and PCOS. My Mom had BC at age 45. She is not BRCA 1 or 2 pos. Saw a GYN who left me with more questions than answers so I marched myself to a high risk clinic today. Today they noticed a cyst by the bruise and I'm having a diagnostic 3D MRI ASAP. They offered me Tamoxifen today and suggested 1 year MRI/mammo staged 6 months apart. I would rather have an elective mastectomy than take Tamoxifen. But that's just me. I'm 37

Hello,
I am very sorry to hear about what you are going through, and about your mother.
That sounds very scary. I hope that the cyst turns out to be benign for you. Aside from my grandmother's sister, cancer does not run in my family. I am really frightened, but trying to remain positive, and I'm sure you are also really nervous. Through all of the reading I have been doing, I have realized that everyone's experiences are different because our bodies and family histories are unique. This is particularly destructive for me, because I have mental health issues. I hope that the doctor can help me tommorow, and I hope that things get better for you too

Thank you. I am trying to practice my mindfulness and look on the bright side. This certainly gives me the kick in the pants I need to lose weight. With PCOS it has been impossible but if I have to eat three egg whites a day to get this weight off I will. I will be thinking about you and hoping for a good outcome. Please keep me updated
-
You are very welcome. I completely feel for others who struggle with health concerns. It is indeed tough to lose weight with PCOS, but please remember to not starve yourself. What has helped me in the past is eating 1200 calories a day or less. Thank you, I will be thinking of you as well. I will let you know the outcome, please let me know yours too.

Hello, the doctor does not think it is anything. To be precise, he is 95%--98% sure, and he has not seen anything like what I have turn into cancer in his 30+ years of practice. I am to watch it for a month to see if it goes away. It has faded a little so far.
What about you, kmom80? How is everything on your end?

Hi! I just saw this reply. So my MRI and ultrasound didn't show anything concerning. That being said I still have the stupid bruise. It's going on six months now. Hasn't gotten much bigger maybe by a mm or two and no changes to the color. I worry all the time about it but it seems like it's a mystery.

I have a reddish/purplish bruise-like mark on the upper side of my left breast. If I remember correctly, it started out as a bump. The two times I went to the doctor, I was prescribed Lotrimin and a pill for ringworm. It didn't go away. I've had it for almost 1 year now. I went to the OB/GYN on Wednesday. I have a diagnostic mammogram tomorrow morning. I just turned 30. I'm a little worried but also I feel like it's nothing. Curious to hear other stories of something similar?

I am 20, have PCOS, overweight and tonight I noticed 2 dark purple and 2 dark pink spots about the size of an eraser on my right breast. They are all within 3 iches of each other. I am scared. I'm going going to shedule an appointment in the morning, but until that appointment comes I will be worrying like crazy. I remember my doctor telling me having PCOS increased my risk of breast cancer greatly.

smalcom and ashroxx97, sorry your breast changes has brought you both here, but wanted so say welcome!
We know it's hard not to worry, but lumps and other changes in breasts are very common in women. Anyway, it's a good thing you have been diligent in visiting your doctor and get those changes checked.
Please keep us posted!

Hi everyone,
I have just randomly found 3 purple bruises (or what I think look like bruises) on the underneath of my right breast. They are all different sizes with the biggest one being the size of a penny. They are very close together. I am not sure what they are but I have quite large breasts and it has been an extremely hot summer so far so not sure if they are just from rubbing, chafing (if that’s how it’s spelt) or the result of sweating. Not sure if I should go to the doctors or just monitor it? Would really appreciate some advice please

I squeezed them and they burst like a spot!
Help!

Hi Sb-
We're sorry you're experiencing this worry! We always encourage people with concerns to see their doctor for evaluation. We know it's scary to notice changes in your breasts, but they're very common in women!
