Chest rash after second biopsy

Options

So, I didn't have this at all after the biopsy of my main tumor. But I had a biopsy Thursday of this new spot that the MRI showed, that might be a tumor, and now I have a rash on my chest.

Of course, it's the weekend, and I can't call my surgeon's office about this.

Anyone else had this? It's a splotchy rash. It doesn't itch but it doesn't look good. :(

I experienced something similar after my lumpectomy. I think it was a chemical burn from one of the cleansers used prior to surgery. My Dr. put me on a prednisone steroid pack and it took care of it.

oh wow..that makes sense, because I was pretty much covered in various types of goop. The other hospital where I got my first biopsy didn't use that much stuff, and I didn't get a rash.

Over the course of biopsies and surgery, I became increasingly reactive to Chloraprep (chlorhexidine). I had not been reactive to it before, but I certainly am now. If this turns out to be the culprit, and you're getting radiation down the line, be aware that if you have any open sores, and they give you Hibiclens to treat them, it's also chlorhexidine.

It would be a good idea to find out what was used and have them enter the information on your medical record in the allergies section, to avoid it being used again. An alternative cleanser is Betadine (Povidone-iodine).

I had a similar experience after lumpectomy, I think from the prep. It went away after about a week or so!!
