Calcifications in "good breast"

I am one year from my mastectomy and diagnosis of IDC. I had my annual mamo and ultrasound on my remaining breast. They found calcifications and needed to do another mamo film and then said they weren't concerned because the calcifications "spread" and weren't stuck together afternoon last film was done.

I am also getting an MRI and thought that would help rule anything out. However doc said that calcifications might not show on MRI if they are small and slow growing.so now I'm concerned. But since she said she's now not concerned and doesn't need to biopsy and I'm going back in 6 months.What does it mean that she's not concerned because the calcifications were spread on the last film ?

My understanding is that small calcifications which form a pattern (like a line or a branch, for example) are the ones they worry about. They said yours are spread out--and I gather that means not forming a pattern.

Another six months gives your calcifications a chance to form a pattern (if they're going to!). Often, they'll go with 6-month imaging until they're certain that what they see isn't the very beginning of something they don't want to see. I'd ask if you could expect that you'll be doing just the one six month call-back, or possibly a series of them. Just so you don't freak out if they keep asking you to come back in six months!

At any rate, sounds like good news!
