28wks Pregnant awaiting biopsy results for Paget's Disease?

I'm here because my situation is very scary & I can't seem to find ANY story/info of anyone dealing with this while pregnant. I'm newly 35 yrs old & 28 weeks pregnant. I have a 15 month old whom I breastfed up until June when the issues started with my left nipple. It started as what I thought was an injury from my baby nibbling but it took forever to heal. Ever since then its gone back & forth between looking like it's healing to looking like it's about to fall off. During the past four months I've had scaling, crustiness, ulcerated spots that weep a clear fluid, severe itching, my nipple/aereola has changed from a nice pink to a very dark brown color, there is clear thickening on the bottom underside of my nipple, & most recently a yellowish discharge (I'm lactating & on my right side it's clear, left is clear/yellowish). My OBGYN & PC have had me on antibiotics & we tried nystatin & hydrocortisone creams. NOTHING HAS WORKED. It always looks like it's getting better & then it's like I'm back at square one.

My OBGYN finally sent me to a breast surgeon with whom I saw today. He seems awesome. He listened, asked a lot of great questions & even looked at pictures I had taken of discharge coming from the nipple. Initially he didn't talk much about biopsy. That is until he actually looked at the breast. He took one look & said we need to do a biopsy today. He noted the skin color difference between the left/right, the skin thickening & the ulcerations he observed. He also performed an exam which he felt no lumps in either breast/armpit but felt calcium nodules (I think that's was he said) in the left. He ended up doing a punch biopsy & said he was going to put in an order for a mammogram. Mind you, not once was Paget's discussed but he seemed very concerned about what was going on there & the fact that I was also pregnant.

I left the hospital after being told I'd be contacted to schedule the mammogram. The hospital called me almost an hour later to tell me I needed to come in today for the test. When I asked what time, they said now. I went & had the test which was immediately read by the radiologist who said it was inconclusive due to the fact I'm lactating. I was immediately taken to a room for a US. After an EXCRUCIATING US (by this time I am no longer numb from the biopsy 😭) I was told it wasn't abnormal.

So I'm sitting here pondering & desperately seeking any kind of advice because both imaging tests show nothing out of the ordinary but I have to wait until next week for my biopsy results.

Oh girl, I can only imagine how nervous/upset you are to have all of this thrown at you all at once. Its all so scary and messes with your head. I am new to all of this whole breast cancer world, so I don't have any knowledge to pass along. I can tell you that waiting is the worst part about any of this! I got my dx on Oct. 2nd, but dont see my onchologist until the 26th. Let me tell you, I have just about driven myself insane some days thirsting for some answers (On a brighter note, my house is super clean). I wish you luck on your biopsy results. Keep your chin up and stay strong! Someone should be along shortly to hopefully answer some questions for you!

Thank you so much for responding! I was beginning to think no one had anything to say about my situation 😕. I go in for my results on Wednesday, so we are going on a week now with no news - I was hoping I'd get the call saying everything was good since from what I understand a simple negative result comes much faster than if something is going on. Needless to say, YES, the waiting is EXCRUCIATING. I have spent most of my days the past week with very high anxiety, which of course isn't never good in my condition. I'll definitelyupdate after my appointment. Thank you again for your very kind & thoughtful response!

Hey, tomorrow is a big day for you, getting your biopsy results.Try not to anx--which is easier said than done--neither you nor the baby need those stress hormones. I think not knowing is the hardest thing. Even if your worst fears are realized, there are treatments and your doctors will work to devise ways to protect you and the baby. Hang in there! Hoping for the best for you.

Got my results & NO PAGETS!!!!

According to the pathologist I have severe eczema on my nipple. To say I'm relieved is an understatement! Thank you for the kind responses& encouraging words!

I'm also suffering from weeping of the nipples and areolas on both sides. I think it has started during my breastfeeding journey...I fed my last baby until 3.5 year old. I've weaned since June 2018 and I'm still experiencing persistent weeping on both sides...they come and go and it started with one side, then the other side has it too. My derm gave me steroid cream and it would heal but the problem would return when I stop the Rx cream. I've tried the all purpose nipple ointment, another Rx cream and it's the same result with the steroid cream.

It has been almost 4 months since you last posted but I am hoping you would see this message and let me know what you've done to help with the healing process? I'm not sure if I should go to see a specialist or ask the derm for a biopsy? Would a biopsy help in treating the eczema? Thank you for reading!
