(49 yrs old, BRCA 1)

After going for my routine MRI, it was recommended I have mammo & US to confirm small mass was benign. I was told by my high risk doctor that it looks fine but needed confirmation. BIRADS 0. Stating it looked like a intramammary lymph node.

I had mammo & US today a week later. Radiologist came in and said it looks like a VERY small cyst "actually a cluster of a few). If it was another pt, I would tell them to wait 6 mo, but with your high risk I would suggest a MRI biopsy....but it's up to you" I agreed to biopsy and now I wait for scheduling. I'm also coincidently scheduled to meet with breast surgeon to discuss prophylactic mastectomy next week. Not sure if I should wait and discuss with him before doing biopsy. I'm so confused.

My main question is. Has anyone been through this scenario? And most importantly, what is the MRI guided biopsy like? I'm VERY claustrophobic and almost didn't make it through my last MRI. Took Xanax but hardly enough (and I normally take nothing!). How long in machine? In and out? How long each time? I'm more concerned about getting through the machine part than I am about a needle going into my breast
