Joint pain after stopping HRT or while taking AI's

I was started on low dose HRT in late 40's and worked for 20 more years having arthritis and several surgeries. Mostly, my pain was managed.

Had stage 1 cancer that was estrogen positive. 8 months off HRT and my joints feel like I am 90 yrs, not 70. Exercise helps, but joints are wearing

out faster than previous 20 years. Want to go back on HRT. Anyone ever go back to HRT because of severe joint pain.

Hi k48, and welcome to Breastcancer.org! We're sorry you didn't get any real answers yet. We're bumping your topic to see if someone who can help reads it. In the mean time, you may want to take a look at the following article from our main site:

k48...hi there. Just wondering if you are on an anti hormone or did you just stop the HRT. Joint paint is definitely worse without estrogen for most people. I was also on HRT when I was diagnosed and I decided not to take an anti hormone. Although my docs at a major NYC university hospital did want me to take an aromatase inhibitor my BS told me just stopping the HRT was a form of treatment. HRT is definitely contradicted with hormone positive BC. Please let me know if you want to talk more about it. Good luck and keep us posted.
