Architectural Distortion
Hi. I'm brca2 and doing surveillance (plan to do surgeries when my babies are a little older). I had an MRI that showed architectural distortion on my left breast. They couldn't find it on an ultrasound so I had an mri guided biopsy (ouch).!! Results won't be in until Wednesday (earliest). I am beyond worried.
Anyone have B9 results with architectural distortion???

Hi TorTor33,
I had architectural distortion on both my screening and diagnostic mammogram. The ultrasound showed round hypoechoic masses that I think might be the reason for the distortion. I am going for Biospy on Oct. 17th. Having architecural distortion is worrisome but you sound like you are in good hands as they are going to biospy it regardless of not seeing it on ultrasound. Please keep me/us posted. I will send you the best of vibes! Also, I believe that architectural distortion can be due to benign things like scar tissue (maybe from prior surgery), injury etc. so that would be a yes...you can get beningn results with architectural distortion.
Best to you,

Yes, I had AD on screening mammogram. Stereotactic CNB, benign. Radiologist told me to NOT google AD, but of course I did, and I about worried myself to death waiting for the results. Sending positive vibes for b9 results for you, too!

@Canuck-Girl I'll be thinking of you and I will keep you posted! and @bew66 Thanks for the reply. Happy to hear b9!!!!

Thank you so much! I will be holding my breath. Any chance the radiologist might give me some insight tomorrow during the biopsy...do they usually say what they see or if there are any changes since the diagnostic mammo and ultrasound?
Hope you are well?!
-
Oh gracious, that is wonderful news! Did they tell you what caused the AD? Did you have any other findings besides AD such as asyemmetry or solid masses?
Stay well, stay healthy...get your mammograms!

Aside from a surgical scar, other causes of AD include a "radial scar" which is basically benign but would need to be removed.
On the MRI report did they mention the type of enhancement demonstrated by the area of AD?

HAPPY TO SHARE B9 RESULTS!
Report says it was Lactational changes. I stopped breastfeeding in May.
I'm so relieved but this scare has me so rattled.

So happy for you TorTor33!

Wonderful news, so very happy for you!

In the end the radiologist said the 2 areas identified as solid hypoechoic masses on my diagnostic ultrasound were just cysts...phew! She feels the architectural distortion and focal asymemmtry is just the way my breast is. Very cystic, very dense. I am relived but a part of me is still worried.
Thank you for your support.
