Titanium marker not placed

I had a biopsy last week. My ultrasound technician told me they would be placing a Titanium marker. This did not happen.

The radiologist was guesting at the hospital and I felt like he was bumbling through the procedure. Asking how do you do this? Why isn't this working? The technicians were guiding him. At the end of the procedure he took out the tube and the technician asked about the marker. He had forgotten about it and was nonchalant about not putting one in.

It seems to be standard operating procedure to have the marker placed. I am already nervous, so the idea of a mistake happening is concerning. Would anyone have insight in to this?

I think as far as mistakes go, this one is mild. I am not an expert, but I think the only problem with not getting a marker is they could struggle to identify the biopsy site on future mammograms, etc. If you have a big old lump in there that they end up taking out, I think they remove the marker during surgery and put their own surgical one in. I am not sure though... I could be very wrong.

Hopefully someone will come along who knows more about this!! It must have been stressful having a radiologist bumbling through your procedure. Hope your results are good!!

At my recent biopsy the tech asks the rad if he wanted a clip and he said no. I think because of where my lump is (directly behind the the nipple) he didn't think it would be hard to relocate in the future.
