So I have age and the fact that I am breastfeeding on my side. However I have a heavy history of bc on both sides of my family, unfortunately. I am 24 years old and have been breastfeeding for 5 months. I mentioned well before my pregnancy that I felt a small lump to my DR but she dismissed it as just extra tissue. Now, its bigger and I insisted it was checked. They did an ultrasound and it came back as a Bi-rad 4 and the tech seemed concerned and ordered an immediate biopsy. While doing the biopsy they got three samples and one of those samples had milk on it. So my question is, could this be milk related??? They are making me wait over a week! Military hospitals are extremely slow and backed up longer so it could be longer and I am losing my mind.

This was the report:

VIEWS: Sonographic images of the right breast at the 10:00 axis approximately 7 cm from the nipple demonstrates 2 hypoechoic taller than wide irregularly shaped masses the largest measuring 0.9 x 0.8 cm, the smaller one measuring 6 x 5 mm. No demonstrated internal Doppler flow. The margins are spiculated and indistinct in appearance. There is posterior acoustic shadowing. Real-time imaging of the right axilla demonstrated normal-appearing lymph nodes. No suspicious axillary findings were demonstrated. IMPRESSION: Hypoechoic spiculated mass within the right breast 10:00 position approximately 7 cm from the nipple. BIRADS 4: Suspicious abnormality, consider biopsy. Recommendation: FNA will be attempted, if insufficient cells are obtained conversion to ultrasound-guided vacuum-assisted biopsy will be performed.

I'm right there with you waiting on military hospitals.

I dunno about milk related, but id think if it were a lump you felt before pregnancy it may not be.

    Wishing you luck!

Bourquesm, the good news is that even with a birads 4 requiring a biopsy, 80% of the time there is a benign condition.  And considering how young you are, it is even more likely that whatever it is, it is benign.  Unfortunately you do have to wait even though you'd like to know now if not sooner.  But you'll need patience raising a child anyway so you can look at it as practice.  Hoping for the most likely good outcome and let us know when you find out.
