Drain of deep red blood months after lumpectomy surgery

Just wondering if anyone else has had lots of old, dark blood accumulating in the surgery area several months after surgery?

I had lumpectomy 5 months ago and Radiation 3 months ago. Due to fluid build up (and my boby wouldn't absorb it), it caused pain, my doctor drained it three times. The fluid built right right up within 24 hours. Last week, doctor finally placed a JP drain. Since, the amount each day is small (5 cc) but deep red. Now it is over a week, the deep red blood still persists, though the amount is the same. ( not much less)

I'm wondering if anyone here had a similar experience. and, if so, how long it took for the fluid to lighten up ... I know we all heal at different rates, but just looking for someone else with a similar experience. Thanks
