Not what I expected
So walking into my appointment today, given how everything has went up to today, I expected to hear "It's shrinking so we aren't going to do anything invasive and just keep an eye on it". What actually happened was that my cystic and solid mass was more solid than cystic and aspiration wasn't going to cut it. I was ok until the tech asked if I was ok and then I wasn't. I cried right there in the room with the tech. Then in came the rad and on we went with the core needle biopsy. I have set an appointment with my doctor for October 19th for the results. This wasn't how this day was suppose to go and I am drained.

I bet you are. Nobody likes to be blind-sided. Hopefully, they got good samples and in 9 days you will know definitively what you have there. I wish you the best. Now, try to get some sleep tonight. Tomorrow is another day--plan to be kind to yourself.
-
I hope that you get good results.

Did anyone have pain in the armpit after a core needle biopsy? It was under my nipple that was biopsied and that doesn't hurt at all. I've had a tender armpit for sometime but this pain today is pretty intense.
-
I didn't have armpit pain, but a lot of those nerves are connected. Do you know why your armpit has been tender for awhile?
-
gb2115 - thank for the reply. No I don't know why but I mentioned to the techs at my last two ultrasounds and nothing has come about from it.
-
Trying not to clog the feed with a bunch of topics but I have so many questions! Like did you bring a person when you got your results? My girlfriend booked the day off work to come but I don't want her wasting her time if the results are b9.
-
I received my results over the phone. My doctor already had an appointment set up with a surgeon to go over all the options. That visit was the one my hubby and sister went with me. I knew I wouldn't remember half of what was said. Hoping for benign results for you!
-
It seems my lump is considerably smaller since the swelling from the biopsy has fadded. It is possible that the biopsy caused any fluid to drain but left the solid component making it seem smaller? It feels probably half the size but much harder than before.
-
It does make sense that some fluid could drain changing the way it feels! My lump was completely solid but still felt different after biopsy. It felt larger, I think it was inflamed a little.
Not too much longer until you get results! I didn't have an appointment for that, the radiologist who did the biopsy called me the next day with the bad news. I got the call during my lunch break at work, so my (super sweet) co-workers got the brunt of my meltdown.
-
That seems something unreasonable to tell you over the phone. I am sure they have a good reason but it would much rather a face to face. I am going to call today to see if the report is in so I can get a copy before the appointment to prepare any questions. I know if it's bad news I will not be able to say much in the moment without being prepared. Just like a froze up at the biopsy then I was told they wouldn't even consider aspiration.
-
Update - Just got the call that my results are b9. It only shows infection! Thanks to every one here who walked through this with me.
Keeping all of you in my thoughts.
-
congrats to you
