hi gals,

I've started using Abbott's Ensure as nutrition help, not to lose weight/ deprive of critical diet needs etc

I disliked the idea when when first offered by MO. Of well. ... she DOES know better. My bloated belly causes lack of appetite and the disturbed digestive system not happy with most things I should be eating. This solution is timely. I suggest you the same, if you haven't already started on it. It hS strawberry chocolate and vanilla options here. Not bad at all. :)

Hugs

Ebr

Ebru, so nice to hear from you! I'm sorry about the distended belly, ugh, ugh. Hoping the Ensure helps you feel better.

I'm closer to your part of the world this week -- in Copenhagen for a meeting. Of course my feet gave out on X just when I want to walk around and see the city.

hey gals, thanx. Strawberry is ok, vanilla flavored Ensure is yucky :/

Live from the chemo session, weekly Taxoll continues. Ok so far, though I do have allergic reactions. Nurse drips it slower this time.

Edema and stomach issues continue, ugh.. and neuropathy and HFS added. X was kinder with no HFS the past 5 years.. So I get my share now :)

Feet grew to 11 from 9, hubby offers his sneakers :)

So is life.. good news is I finally found a fulltime maid. House was out of control and I am not high maintenance. I have so much respect who can still do housework.

Been told to consume fresh orange juice with each meal to keep iron in the body. English tea totally banned. I had 2 blood transfusions, oh yeah! Might as well start a vampire diary thread. Joke aside, started on iron supplement pillls. Open to suggestions, as I am quite anemic these days.

Sorry about the belly and now the feet. What a sweet hubby. Congrats on the maid. Full time maid here, but I do get a lot of vacations Loopy

Have you had iron infusions? I have had them in the past and might be something to consider.

    hi Heidi,

I am taking iron pills. We'll soon find out their performance. I also changed my diet accordingly. Fingers & toes crossed.

    Ebru,

I struggled with anemia during Halaven. Each night, I'd combine a 27 mg iron tablet with a Vitamin C and a B12. It's the same combo my spouse takes for his pernicious anemia, and it seems to help. Plant based iron isn't as bio-available as heme iron from animal foods. A good free-range egg will do you well, and a broth from free-range grass-fed animals. Stay very far away from factory farmed animals, not just for moral reasons (and there are many!), but their feed is full of antibiotics and trash, and their flesh will not convey any benefits to you.

You are right to take a vitamin C source with each meal to make the iron in your food more available.

Iron supplements can be constipating, so keep an eye on that. I daresay that ascites and a poop slowdown would be no fun at all.

Congrats on finding a housekeeper. I'm looking, but am having major "stranger in my house" issues. Silly, I know. How is your hair looking these days?

    Best wishes,

    Jennifer
