Hi,

My sister and I just tested BRCA1 positive two days ago and I just had a question. About a month and a half ago I found a breast lump at the bottom of my breast, I had it checked with an ultrasound and the radiologist labelled it as "probably benign" BIRADS 3 and said to me that we will do a follow up in 6 months. It scared me then but it scares me even more now considering I now know I am BRCA1 positive. Would you trust that this lump is benign or would you push for a biopsy? I just don't want to wait then it end up being cancer all along. That's my biggest fear. Thanks for any advice.

Normally I would say just do the follow up, butIf I found out I was BRCA1 positive I would request the biopsy instead of waiting the six months.

Well I didn't find a biopsy that inconvenient. I would go ahead and push for it. In my situation they biopsied a oval shape they were sure was a cyst so why not something they think is benign.

If my BRCA1 test would have came back negative then I was fine with waiting 6 months but with this BRCA1 positive I feel the same way, I can't just wait incase it is cancer and who knows what 6 months can do waiting, I don't want to take any chances at all. Thank you for your response
