First , I am thankful for being always helpful .

I am interested to know how we count years? Do we count after diagnosis or after treatment is done.

For instance, my mom diagnosed on 2012. She had chemo and surgeries on 2013 and radiation on 2014.

Do I have to count her year of servivers from 2014?

Now it's 2017 so is that means she is 3 years serviver

It varies, but in my region at least, it's from either date of diagnosis or date of surgery.

I agree w date of diagnosis. My official D was my birthday. It feels like I was born again.

My DMX was the day after Valentines day. Either is double taxation for my hubby so I choose double for my birthday.

We can count however we like personally, but all the analyses in the medical journals and in health care practices measure from date of diagnosis, so your mom is five years out now (dx'd in 2012).
