Could fibrocystic breast disease look like cancer on mammo?

I've been trying to figure out how a mammogram could be tricked into thinking there is cancer. Anyone know about fibrocystic breast disease and if it could put you falsel in a birad rating 5?

We all wish that there was a breast imaging that detected all breast cancer, did NOT detect what was NOT breast cancer, was inexpensive and had no adverse effects. Unfortunately, it doesn't exist. Even if you take the first two items: detected all breast cancer and did NOT detect what was not breast cancer, it doesn't exist. According to the BIRADS system, about 5% of BIRADS 5 mammograms are NOT cancer on biopsy.

I am sorry that you're here worried about bc. I can tell you, from reading other women's stories who gotten BIRADS 5 scores, that there have been some who had a radial scar, which can mimic bc. But Leaf is right, the BIRADS 5 has a 95% positive predictive value (meaning that 95% of the findings with that score turn out to be bc).
