Year out from cancer .. 4mm oval mass.. need reassurance
I had a lumpectomy in November of last year, and 3: radiation treatments. Also had my ovaries out and now on letrozole. Follow up post cancer mammo showed a mass, sonogram saw nothing. MRI showed a 4 mm oval mass with circumcised margins. Aren't masses that are oval with clean margins mostly benign?? I'm hoping it's a fat necrosis from radiation . It also said it showed up bright under the T2, which normally means benign. I have a stereotactic biopsy Monday to see what it is. Any comments would be appreciated .. or some reassurance

Hi Cherry:
I was biopsied last month (in my previously treated breast) in four spots. Mass plus microcalcifications. Doctor prepared me - saidshe thought I had a new problem.
The result was fat necrosis from lumpectomy and rads. Doctor was so surprised that she made pathology do a double check.
The doctors are hyper vigilant - especially when cancer has made an appearance before. I hope you will have a very good result.
Love,
Belle xx

Teddy,
That's wonderful! What was the size of the mass? Did it have even margins? What kind of biopsy did you have? I've never had the one I'm having .. sterotatuc

Hi Cherry:
The mass was about 1cm and it had microcalcs shooting about - the same way my original BC presented. Not sure about margins. I had stereotactic and ultra sound guided biopsies same day. I had enough lidocaine pumped in at the beginning to make the process as pain free as possible, and I experienced no pain and took 2 tylenol following. I am not overly brave at all - I think the key is lidocaine at the start and as much as is legal
I hope your result is benign / necrosis / something dull and boring and cancer free
Given we both had BC before, our doctors will watch us like hawks. As my doctor said "we aren't waiting around - let's check now."
Really wishing you best of luck and will look for your further posts.
Love xx and hugs!

My biopsy is Monday at 9:00. I'm having a stereotactic biopsy. I should know by mid week. Nervous!'

Hi Cherry did you ever post your results? I’m having a similar situation just wondering how it went for you? Hope you’re doing well!!

The results were basically a ball of blood vessels. Probably from radiation.. but it wasn’t cancer!!! How scary that was.
