Waiting and waiting, getting frustrated
Hi Ladies,
I have been waiting for biopsy results for a week and a half, and even though I'm confident there is nothing serious going on, I'm still feeling like crying because the wait is driving me crazy! Initially, the radiologist said it was a papilloma, but when I hadn't heard from them on Thursday (biopsy was previous Wednesday), I called. The radiologist said pathology wanted to do "one more stain" and that I should hear from her by this coming Tuesday. She said twice "they don't think it's cancer" which troubled me because she hadn't mentioned "cancer" during the ultrasound or during the biopsy. She didn't mention the word papilloma either, when I spoke with her Thursday. I think she said fibroadenoma, but I'm not sure. I did ask her if there were any atypical cells in the samples, and she said, "no, there is no atypia". I don't understand what they are looking for, and this is really driving me crazy because I'm an RN and very used to understanding what is going on with my body.
Can anyone enlighten me at all? Does anyone know what they are looking for with this stain?
Thanks for any input.

I understand the frustration with the waiting! I had my biospy on Sept 18 and was told I would would be called on the 21st. I still have not gotten a call and no one returned my call yesterday. My patient portal finally updated today but all it says is the biospy was done and is pending pathology. My radiologist also said she did not think it was cancer so what is the hold up?!

Mine was on the 13th, Grammy2be! Why do they tell us it will be 3-5 business days, then make us wait for 2 weeks? They need to be honest about the turn-around with pathology.
And don't get me started on that stupid patient portal! There are never any written reports, only that the procedure was done....why do they even bother? I had biopsies done in 2008 that have no information available, except that the final report was in!

Agreed. It is just a little harder to wait when you are told a few days and then hear nothing. I can't imagine how frustrated you are to have been waiting since the 13th! Maybe you will get a call on Monday.

I don't have any insights on the extra tests, but waiting is hard. I'm waiting for the results of my surgical biopsy. Won't find out until Thursday. Fingers crossed for b9 results for you soon

Thanks, mommakat and grammy2be. Helps to have others to commiserate with. I'm normally a very laid-back easy-going individual, feel like my head is about to start spinning and spewing split pea soup. Best wishes to you both for b9 results!
