Tumor shrinkage

Options

Hey ladies!

So I have had 4 rounds of AC followed by weekly taxol. I have had 8 taxol treatments so far ...I had an ultrasound 2 days ago to see how my tumor has responded. It went from 2.3cm to 7mm...is this a good response? I still have 4 more taxol treatments but honestly I don't feel it's shrunk much more since AC. I see so many posts where doctors can't even find the tumor on ultrasound but that wasn't the case for me. I guess I'm just anxious and was hoping for a Pcr.

You will probably need to wait for the final pathology report but it sounds like good news. Once it's out they can seeexactly what is going on. My tumor bed measured 3.5 cm after my BMX and had just rare -less than 5% of viable cancer cells scattered across a 2mm The tumor bed was primarily scar tissue after chemo. it felt smaller or at least softer after AC but I did not have an ultrasound to measure progress

Legomaster- sounds like good news! I'm on 4-6 round TC Plan, finished 2 rounds so far. I don't feel much difference in terms of tumor size by touching... were you able to tell the difference by self-exam

I had a similar experience. I had 6 rounds of TAC chemo and then surgery. My tumor shrunk from 2.8cm to 5mm at surgery. The final pathology said the remaining tumor was just dead cells. So they call this a near pathological complete response. This would have been the end of my treatments, but unfortunately they found 1 cm of DCIS in the tumor bed and it was near the chest wall so I had to do 5 weeks of radiation.

I chose mastectomies then did delayed reconstruction and am officially NED.

I hope your remaining tumor is just inactive cells as well.
