Hi all. Havn't posted in awhile been enjoying some stability. But...I have fluid blowing up my stomach and markers went from 360 to 680. Dr days disease is trying to wake up and told me to stop talking ibrance and faslodex, starting be doxcil this week and hopefully getting this fluid drained tomorrow.

Anyone have this happen? Ugh.....

Lvin, Try going to the Peritoneal carcinomatosis thread, there are several of us with this symptom called ascites. I have been drained 8 times. It's not a terrible procedure. The first two minutes is getting the catheter in. Some Dr's are better than others at making it fairly painless. Luckily it only lasts a short time. The draining part is painless. I have been on Abraxane for 4 weeks and it has cleared up. No procedure for the 4th week now.

Thanks. Had it drained today. I feel so much better, thought my stomach would burst! Hope I don't have to do that again. They took out 4.5 liters stomach still feels a little boated but much better.

Im getting freaked out after going to another discussion board, the one you mentioned above. I've never heard of this nor did my Dr mention it to me this week. I am hoping this fluid is just because my liver is smaller from disease and treatment but my tms went up, all other blood work was fine though. Ugh...... I don't go back to clinic until Friday for first round of doxil. I eat fine, no weight loss, no pain until the bloating started, this is first time that's happened.

Ummm - catheter in where? I thought this was going to be a needle / syringe to drain from a fluid pocket in abdomen that is found on an ultrasound. Am pushing the oncologist for this on Tuesday, I am so uncomfortable and in pain a lot and sure it is ascites. Thanks.

Bluebird it is a needle and tube. Worst part I'd the numbing, just like the dentist, looks like the same tool. My stomach hurt after second time, my back felt better. That Dr said he didn't like doing stints due to infection. I'll take my chances. Good luck blue, you will feel better afterwards.

Thank you. That means an injection and I cannot have epinephrine. But there are other choices or it could be diluted by 75%.

OK - good to know, I am more prepared. Thank you!

Well, the PET CT did not show pockets of fluid except in right flank, yes, really. And around R kidney where there is a small stone to pass. ugh. DO has me on 40 mg lasix to release the fluid from cells. Four days of that and I have a lap almost but swell easily even when I go to bed. He said all in subcutaneous layer and I would only get stabbed and and it would hurt and for very little fluid, hahaha. He is funny, a little anyway. And very nice. So we will forgive him his joke, right.
