Just curious..are our medical treatments tax deductible? Copays and all that? I'm shelling out a fortune in copays alone :(

Also, I have a tax debt I'm going to have to go on an installment plan for :( This goes back to an accountant I had years ago who claimed a tax credit I NOW HAVE TO PAY BACK. UGH.

So I basically owe the IRS $7000.

A cancer diagnosis was NOT what I needed now.

I'm wondering if anyone knows..is there any kind of hardship deferral available for people with cancer diagnoses?

thx

Your medical expenses are tax deductible if they represent more than a certain percentage of your income. For federal income tax, if your qualified expenses are greater than 10% of your adjusted gross income, you can deduct them. State income tax deductions for medical expenses depend on the state in which you live - I live in FL, which has no state income tax, so I can't deduct expenses. No idea if you can ask for a delay or hardship allowance on your IRS debt.
