I just celebrated 5 years out from mets to the brain from triple negative cancer and almost 10 years out from original breast cancer, and today I find out I am her2positive with a new primary. After reading thru the forums for the her2+ group I just don't know if I can go thru this again. I have been fortunate to have had some really good years, have felt great and just recently expanded my business. I don't know if at 64 I can go thru taxoter again and a year of the herceptin. Reading thru the forums it looks like it is going to be a tough road and having done it all before I just don't know. I met with the surgeon today who is sending me back to the onc next week and is scheduling lots of scans to see if either of the cancers has spread. Just really bummed tonight.

embmom - I'm breaking the rules by responding in this forum, but I wanted to say that I'm sorry for your new diagnosis. Could you possibly just do Herceptin and/or Perjeta? The SE's are generally much more manageable and some people have really great responses.

    Notverybrave,

I will see the onc on Wed. And he will let me know what we'll do. The breast surgeon, tho, told me that it would be the taxol or something similar and the herceptin. No carbo this time as I had it last time. I also have been reading about perjeta. My tumor is 2.5 cm so I am already stage 2 and from reading it seems like I might get that, too. Tues. I do scans all day to see if either of the cancers have spread. I have been Ned for 5 years! I can't believe my luck getting the 2 most aggressive cancers! At least this new one has more treatment options than the trip neg. this one is er- and pr+ her+".Thanks for responding! How are you doing?

Look at you, asking about me! I'm doing pretty good but ready to be off this cancer train. Guess you're never really off, huh?

Good luck on Tuesday. Hoping for lots of boring, normal scans!

So sorry you're in this situation! I did 6 rounds of TCHP starting in March and it wasn't fun by any means. My last was mid-July and I've been getting herceptin and perjeta infusions every three weeks since. They're a breeze! I drive myself to and from the appointments and have even gone to the gym the same day afterwards. Granted, I am 31, but really, they're not bad at all once the heavy duty chemo is off the table. Come over to the herceptin/perjeta thread and chat with us. Some have stoped at 4 THP infusions and then continued with the more manageable HP and saw additional shrinkage. The targeted therapies are definitely worth considering.
