Radiation Clinical Trial

hello.

I was diagnosed with Triple Negative in January. Stage 2B with lymph node involvement. Had 16 treatments of Neoadjuvant Chemo followed by a unilateral Mastcrtomy and 13 nodes removed. I am happy to say I had a Pathelogical Complete Response!!!!

The question now is radiation or no?! My surgeon/breast specialist and my radiation oncologist have informed me that I qualify for the B-51 clinical trial where I would be randomized to either receive radiation or not get any radiation!! I am ready to do this and feel comfortable with whatever group I am put in...just wondering if anyone else is a part of the study or had a similar situation and chose to not have radiation.

Thanks:

SmiLegirl, I was close to being in the study. I was disqualified because they found cancer in my other breast upon my BMX. I was node positive upon biopsy but negative post neoadjuvent chemo and surgery. My BS recommended no radiation but the RO is more conservative and suggested radiation because I had a positive node to start with. I am currently about halfway done with radiation treatment. I would have gone through with the trial if I would have qualified though. I am not triple negative though -pretty close though at 23%/10%.
