hi every one I am new here. My mom had just completed her 2nd round of chemo(TC) on 4thsept. She is suffering from low wbc count. Her total count is 1800. She is due for 3 GCSF shots,starting from tomorrow. She is having high fever with chills. How dangerous it is? Please help

Mayukh, has your mom called her doctor or gone to the hospital for care? A high fever with a low WBC is worrisome.

Has she been seen by her Dr for the high fever? How high is it?

When I was going through chemo, was told to call the Facility if temperature reached 100.5f. Then because my temperature ran so low all the time, to call if it ever reached 99f. Never did and never had any issues with low WBC. I did Neulasta shots the day after each A/C but not with Taxol.

We are each so unique but a 'high temperature and chills' needs to be addressed sooner rather than later.

Doctor's saying this is normal. And give antibiotics ( amoxicilin).after 1st two dose of oral antibiotics the fever seems to be reducing. But I m more concern about total count.how long does it take neupogen to work? Is it going to hamper her next round of chemo? She was due for her 3rd round of TC on 25th.

I don't know about "normal" but a chemo-related low WBC means the body's immune system won't function well, and infection can move in. Frequently the actual source of the infection is unknown. Antibiotics usually do the trick.

Neupogen will help. Her WBC will most likely be improved before the 25th, but as Kicks said, we're all unique.
