I don't know much yet. The doctor called and said something like dci. Meeting with her later today to get the details.

I was upset at first but now I think I am just pissed off. I retired early and was enjoying life with my husband. Now this.

I was just diagnosed with DCIS. I'm hoping you find out more from your Dr. today. For me the unknown the past couple months has been the scariest.

Sassasb - Just want to give you my moral support. I was just diagnosed this week and am going in tomorrow for my first appointment with a surgeon. These last 2 weeks I have run the gamut of every conceivable emotion. I'm new here but these forums seem like a good place to check in and share. I hope all the best for you.

    thank you both.

Most of the 3 core samples showed dcis. One sample had a 1 mm spot of stage 1, grade 1. Having an mri and chest xray tomorrow as part of pre-lumpectomy testing, but other than checking the right breast, I am not sure what mri is looking for. Hopefully, nothing has spread to lymph nodes.

I also need to have a hysterectomy due to huge fibroids. Maybe the two surgeries can be combined?

I'm glad to have found this site because I am clueless about bc and am feeling very overwhelmed right now.

MRI will look for anything a mammogram may have missed and can help confirm the best surgery route for you . Sounds like you have a good team working for you. Lymph nodes will checked during surgery and sent to pathology that's the only way to clear then so try not to jump too far ahead. Deal with one test at the time . Your emotions will be all over the place and that's perfectly normal we all go through it. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and stick around to get advice from those who have come before you. These ladies are pretty awesome here!!!

    Best wishes for you

I was just diagnosed Monday. 1.2cm lump, grade 2, stage 1..we are in the same boat.

Looks like I'll be having a lumpectomy in a month, followed by radiation..maybe followed by chemo..they don't have the results of all the tests pathologists run on my tumor yet, but I guess I'll know soon.

I'm a bit scared but I'm trying not to think about it til it gets closer to the surgery date :p
