Question Regarding Fibroadenoma

Hello everyone!

I had a biopsy done back in January of 2017, and it came back as a fibroadenoma. I was instructed that I could remove it or just monitor, and I chose to monitor, because I had a benign papilloma removed the year prior, and coming out of the anesthesia was not pretty. lol

I just had my repeat mammo at the beginning of August, with no issues apparent. I know at this time that the little bugger was the same size as it had always been.

This past weekend, I was having some tenderness in my breast, so I felt that area, and it felt HUGE. My husband even said it felt like I had a large blood blister in my breast- just a swollen feeling. I had been having issues with my hormones the week before- accidentally messed up doses of my birth control so I was having hormonal migraines, nausea, and lower back pain. I'm wondering if anyone else has had an incident where their fibroadeoma "ballooned," so to speak, during a hormonal fluctuation? It does seem to be going down a little bit, but it's hard to tell at this point. I'd love to just have it removed, but surgery and I do not get along well, so looking for a little piece of mind until this (hopefully) goes back down to it's normal size.

Thank you!

    Dear jayne444,

Welcome to the community. We are glad you reached out but sorry that these breast changes brought you here. Perhaps a call to your doctor would serve to reassure you and offer you some peace of mind while you are waiting for the fibroadenoma to reduce in size. You might consider reporting what you wrote here to your practice to get more information about hormones and their impact. Keep us posted on how things go and what you learn. The Mods
