Hi everyone,

On July 6 I had my first mammogram (Turned 40 this year) which I got a call back. Had a diagnostic mammo as well as a ultrasound on my left breast. Birads 4 so did a core needle biopsy. Results were a complex fibroadenoma with sclerosing adenosis . according to my report I have heterogeneously dense breasts. The mass is 1.6x1.1x0.5cm at 9:00 (Posterior) plus it states a 9mm septated cyst at 10 oclock. Seen a surgeon, but it will be up to 12 weeks to get it removed. He's doing a segmented masectomy as i have history on both sides (No parent or siblings though). Plus it being complex and my age. Think this is the same as a lumpectomy just different wording.

So 2 days after biopsy (July 26) I experienced sharp stabbing pains through my left nipple and a lot of throbbing (I was still bruised and swollen from biopsy but had a red streak that had started, not from biopsy site as doc went from under my breast but it was where the mass is). Doctor said it was an infection so did 10 days of antibiotics. Got better after 2 days, streak went away. Got my period on Aug 18 (Had usual breast heaviness before and during which is normal for me). A few days after my period ended I swelled up and had the shooting pains and a feeling of itchyness from the inside through my nipple and throbbing burning pain. It would come and go, be intense then not so bad. After a few days of this I went back to doctor. He said I had Mastitis, which I almost laughed as I hadnt breast fed in over 16yrs. But I did have mastitis with my oldest son (18) and the sympoms were similar except I had no fever or flu like symptoms this time around nor was I breastfeeding. So more antibiotics. He did send a request for another altrasound (This was last monday). My follow up was Thursday, no change and swelling was worse and have soreness that radiates from the top of my left breast up to my collarbone that goes under my armpit to my back. Doc said it was inflamation. And put me on fluconazole. 3 pills once a week for 2 weeks. At least I wont get a yeast infection in the meantime lol seems odd but maybe he thinks its a fungal matter. Still havent heard back to set up appointment for altrasound. (They have to phone you). Im done my antibiotics tomorrow and breast is still swollen. Throbbing, burning sensation still comes and goes and the odd time sharp nipple pain. It can be totally gone then as soon as i do something or lift anything it comes back. I should note that minus the shooting nipple pain, it doesnt hurt just extremely uncomfortable. I also been having weird heaviness and throbbing between my breasts the last couple of days. More so when Im sitting or laying on my back. (dont have heart problems, was tested for that, which is how this whole thing started)

Sorry for long post. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and could give me some insight. Will this ever go away. Or was something there but biopsy didnt catch. Surgeon said the fibroandenoma shouldnt get much bigger before my surgery. I know I have cysts ( Surgeon Felt them), could these be the problem?

Just wanted to mention that my left nipple looks crusty at the tip, no discharge though. I also have alot of stretch marks so cant tell for sure of anything unusual (went from a b to d when i had kids and lost 50 lbs since last year). Also I have always had inverted nipples so cant go by that. Plus my left has always looked different from my right so I really dont know what to look for as for abnormalities. I didnt even know I had a mass till my mammogram

I also want to note that where im feeling the discomfort (Throbbing) is on the upper and outer side of my breast near my armpit. not where my mass is which is on the other side.

I should also note that in my city (In Ab, Canada) you need to be high risk or have breast cancer to be referred to our breast clinic) so not an option here.

Thank you for reading!

Nyel
