Lupron and thinning hair
Anyone else experience hair thinning while on Lupron shots? It's very concerning. I've talked with my MO about it but wondering if anyone else has had this side effect? Anything help? Nioxin? Rogaine?

I'm also on my first round of Ibrance and wondering if that's what is causing the thinning hair.
I really need to update my profile with current stats and treatment but for some reason I can't bring myself to do it. I'm not in denial.. just can't seem to do it. Ugh

Anyone?

my hair is thinning. Doc said I could take biotin

Finallyoverit, it's not the Lupron, exactly. It's more the Ibrance.
Partly whats happening is that you're thrown into menopause. The lack of estrogen does cause hair thinning in and of itself. Most older women have less hair than they used to. So we've sort of accelerated a natural process.
That said, I lost about 1/3 of my hair whilst on Faslodex. Then another whole bunch on Ibrance. This is indeed a side-effect of Ibrance.
I didn't do anything about it -- now that I'm off hormonals my hair is thickening again.
If you find anything that helps -- do say!!

Thanks, pajim. I talked to my MO again about it today. He thinks it was the shutting down my ovaries so quickly is what triggered it. I went from an estradiol of around 350 to less than 5 in about 6 weeks. He thinks it will stabilize. I sure hope so.. losing my hair the first time wasn't fun and I can't imagine having it happen again would be either. For now, I'm trying Nioxin (level 4), rogaine and I bought some sort of colored hair thickener (apparently some sort of scalp paint) that will be delivered today.
This just sucks..the whole kit and caboodle.. just sucks

Indeed it does my friend, indeed it does.

Just wanted to post an update in case someone else is experiencing the same thing. My hair shedding has definitely decreased. The Toppik hair thickener has been life saver! Looks so real a and helps to hide the places where the scalp is showing more than you would like. I'm using rogaine and Nioxin level 4. Hoping to see new growth soon.
I will say though, this still sucks.

I'm not experiencing any thinning from the Lupron and I get a shot once a month. However, my hair is still very short so maybe I wouldn't notice. BUT I read great things about "glytone neoptide hair lotion spray." I ordered it on derm storm.com. Haven't used it yet but will let you know what I think!!

Thanks! I'll be curious to hear what you think of it. I found Toppik on Amazon and other than making my very thin hair crazy dry, it's at least covering enough that I don't feel self conscious going out in public.
