Waiting long holiday weekend

I went for my routine mammogram 2 weeks ago. I opted for a 3D one because my insurance will cover the extra cost. I have had fibroadenomas previously. But, I haven't felt any lumps. I assumed I would be given the ok for a yearly follow up. Not what happened... I was called back for more mammogram views and an ultrasound. Again, I thought I'd be told I have another fibroid lump. Not what I was told. Now, I'm very anxious waiting core needle biopsy results on this long weekend. Wondering if anyone can take a look at what the reports said. Has anyone had these descriptions and have the mass be something other than cancer?

Targeted ultrasound of the area of concern demonstrates a
2.2 cm hypoechoic nonparallel irregular mass with
indistinct, angular, and microlobulated margins.  Mild posterior
enhancement is noted.

Any information would be appreciated!

Kitkat, so very sorry you are here with breast health concerns. DJMammo ('resident' radiologist) has a really helpful thread about how to read your imaging report here: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/83/topics/858196?page=1#post_5033387

There are some concerning words on your report, however, since you've already had your biopsy and are waiting for results (sorry about the long weekend btw), I'm not sure much is gained by speculation. Did they give you a BIRADS score? It should be something like BIRADS 4 or 5 or perhaps 4 with a letter (a, b or c). Those scores correspond with a specific risk profile or positive predictive value that could be useful, but again, I've seen women on these boards with BIRADS 5 (the highest and most likely to be bc) come back as b9 (for example a radial scar). You can read more about BIRADS scoring here: http://breast-cancer.ca/bi-rads/

I am hoping for b9 results for you! please do ask if you have any other questions.

I spoke to the doctor went I went for the biopsy. He sad he would rate me at 4B. But he wouldn't say anything more than that.

Hi kitkat, I understand what you are going through. I'm also awaiting results of my core biopsy. The wait is completely excruciating. I should have my results before long weekend, but I honestly don't know how I will handle the weekend because we are going on a trip, leaving Friday afternoon. I was hoping to get my results yesterday or today, but no news so far.

It helps me somewhat to tell myself "well, I won't know anything until X, so let's put this out of my mind". Yesterday I was very nervous all afternoon, because I was waiting for a call with results, but once 6 pm hit, I knew I wasn't getting any news that day, so I managed to have a somewhat pleasant evening.

I wish you to find some serenity for this long weekend, and hoping the news will be good. There is always hope. There was somebody here recently who got benign results with 4C, so 4B isn't so bad.

My BIRADS is just 4, and my report doesn't list much at all.

So breast-cancer.ca indicates that BIRADS 4b conveys a "moderate suspicion" of malignancy and " In terms of the positive predictive value for breast cancer, a category bi-rads 4A mammogram is quite low at 13%, and category bi-rads 4B also moderately low at about 36%." (meaning that for a 4b, appoximately 63% will not have bc). Without a letter specifier, BIRADS 4 is typically viewed at having a 20-40% positive predictive value (meaning that 60-80% are NOT bc).
