Second diagnosis in two months

Hey Y'all!

So I was diagnosed with IDC in July and had a lumpectomy. I didn't have chemo, but while getting my CT to get my radiation set up, my RO saw something she thought was suspicious. She put radiation on hold and sent me for an US. It showed up on US too so I had a biopsy the same day. I got the results today and it is cancer in the right breast very similar to what was on the left. The lump is very close to my breast bone and was in an area that is not seen on a mammogram. Now I'm facing surgery again.

Basically, I guess I just needed to vent. It seems to me that we need something more than mammograms if there are areas they can't reach. I guess I'm pretty blessed that it was caught at all.Thanks for listening!

I am glad the radiologist caught it, but sorry you need more surgery. What surgery are they recommending? I hope your plan is in place soon

I'm so sorry -- but agree with you completely: it's lucky they caught this.

Did you ever have an MRI? I had one prior to making the BMX decision. (They actually saw another area of concern (that turned out to be nothing) but it tipped the scale for me to BMX.) I am certainly NO expert but I think I'd ask for one before making any more surgical decisions. I believe it's more effective for this than CT. Others with more experience can chime in.

HUGS and hoping you do well. I have Exchange surgery next week (after six months of tissue expanders). They've been a joy (not) but totally doable if you choose to go another route.

I will see my surgeon on Tuesday to see the full pathology report and discuss options.

And, no I haven't had an MRI. I will ask about it on Tuesday.

I 2nd an MRI!!! An MRI cought 2 spots that had been missed on the mamo and ultra sound.

How did it go? Hoping for best!
