Hi everyone,

I had radio (25 sessions) on my left reast after mastectomy, and had no more SE than the skin a bit pink, then darker and peeled (as if just a bit suburned). But then a few weeks later I had like a rush (lots of mini red spots, itchy like hell) on that area, which finally went away with some cortisone cream. But since, I have had those rushes a few times (3 or 4 at least) in other areas: arms, belly, neck,.. Has anyone else experienced that, this itchiness outside the radiated area?

thanks!

Hi Maru - Welcome to BC.org! We're glad you found us but sorry you had to.

Hope you get responses from other experienced members soon. In the meantime you may want to take a look at the radiotherapy section from our main site, where you'll learn more on Managing Skin Side Effects like rushes and redness.

Hope this helps! Let us know how you're doing!

Yes, I currently have erythemia multiforme which is pus sacs that break open to leave a purple/red welt with a hole in the middle and very itchy and hot and painful. On my fingers it feels like splinters. This occurred during radiation. See your doctor because they can prescribe things early on that can stop this. If it is EM minor, you dont want it to become major. I have them on my face and upper and lower extremities.

Hi ganoobi, thanks for sharing and sorry to hear you have erythemia multiforme. I hadn't heard from it, but I've had a look and I'm not sure that's what I have, I don't have the hole, but who knows, it might be a minor form (for now), 'cause just a couple of days ago the irradiated are was weeping (secreting something viscous...), just one day, then got dry and is now peeling again. I'll check with my doctor. Thanks so much!
