Nail changes with Tamoxifen?

I'm wondering if anyone has noticed nail changes while on Tamoxifen?

I have a toenail that looks odd, and have been keeping an eye on it thinking it maybe was something fungal, but after months of observation I really don't think it is, I think it's just growing funny on one side. That happened once before during a really stressful time, and it ended up eventually going ingrown, so maybe that's starting. Eh, not a big deal though it's making finding comfortable shoes kind of hard. But then a couple days ago I noticed my fingernails are starting to pit slightly. I have a follow up with dermatology in December, so I will show it to her, and it's not really worrying me all that much. I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced anything like this?

I have had numerous allergy and skin problems ever since my surgery (was never allergic prior), so this may be just one more thing to add to the list! :-)

    Hi gb2115,

We're sorry you're experiencing this unpleasant side effect! In fact, you're correct, according to the main Breastcancer.org site's page on Nail Changes, tamoxifen can definitely cause this effect. There's some good tips on that page that can help manage your nail changes. We're sure other members will be by shortly to share their experiences and remedies, too!

    We hope this helps!
