I am 51 yrs old and have had MBC with bone mets denovo for 4.5 years. Arimidex has just failed me and I now have many more spots on my bones, some causing pain. Right before learning about the progression, I had accepted a job offer to work from home full-time. I was very excited about this opportunity since I get bored home alone while kids are at school and husband works PT. I have been on disability for 4 years and Medicare Advantage Plan for 2.5. My oncologist has prescribed Ibrance/Faslodex combo and advised that taking a new job and changing insurance might be a risk. He said the drugs are very $ and insurance companies can easily refuse to pay for them. He said they have had no problems with Medicare. So I withdrew my acceptance of the job. Got the call yesterday that my Medicare Advantage Plan (Florida Blue Regional PPO) approved Ibrance but my cost would be $3000/month. They also said they submitted my info for a $5K/year grant but not sure how that will help since still can't pay that much. I contacted my friend about the job I turned down and she is still interviewing and says the offer still stands. I know Pfizer has a $10 co pay if I have commercial insurance. I do worry about SE from Ibrance and feeling like working at a computer 8 hours a day. However, I want to ensure I can afford the Ibrance. I have seen people on Medicare get grants and it is paid 100% so that would be ideal. However, I don't know if that will happen so I am considering taking the job. I have been so upset and torn about what to do. Anyone have any experience or advice????
